Join us as a volunteer!

Orama Oasis is truly a ‘global village’ with both kiwi and international volunteers learning, laughing, sharing and working side by side. We offer a unique opportunity to live and work in a faith community in one of the most stunning natural locations in the world.

Skilled specialists are always needed at Orama Oasis for instance carpenters, plumbers, mechanics or people with cooking or horticultural experience. Whatever your ability the most important thing is willingness, flexibility and a sense of humour. Our team gets involved with many varied daily tasks in order to keep the complex functioning.

In return, you will have the opportunity to experience island life in a friendly community setting, which can be an enriching and rewarding experience.

The minimum age for volunteers is 18 years. References and police checks are mandatory and stays from 4 weeks to 12 months are possible.

Give a little, gain a lot!

Short term volunteers (4 weeks – 3 months) play an integral part to our community life. As a short term volunteer you are able to experience much of the Great Barrier life whilst contributing in a meaningful way to our Orama community.

Orama Oasis is an ideal location if you’re looking to be part of a faith community. Longer term volunteering is an opportunity to grow meaningful relationships, explore the majestic surroundings of the Orama property and wider island locations, to explore and grow in your personal faith journey.

“The best thing about being at Orama is enjoying the beautiful scenery and being with a community of people that are really welcoming. You get to create wonderful relationships with a lot of cool people. Being here has helped me realise my strengths and we have a lot of fun working together.”
Sarah, volunteer from Canada

“The most amazing thing for me was when the pod of dolphins came in the bay and we went swimming with them. I also like the nice food at the end of the day and the friendship with the other volunteers. I would definitely do this again”.
Reuben, volunteer from Germany
