Orama Family Camp 2021

28th Dec 2021 - 2nd Jan 2022

Join us for a week of fun at Orama's Family summer camp...

This will be a time to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some quality time with family doing some fun activities alongside times of reflection and fellowship with others.

Our summer camp is an all-inclusive event which includes your sailing from the mainland to Great Barrier Island, right to our front door.

You will enjoy delicious meals from our amazing chef Colleen and the team, enjoy daily excursions to some of the most magnificent spots on the island and get to connect with other families amongst quality teaching and reflection.

Art projects, hikes, fishing, boat trips, games, camping, stargazing and many more new experiences await. Come and disconnect from our increasingly busy world into God’s beauty, put your watch away and adjust to summer on Barrier time.

Adventure & Excursion Options...

Hike HirakImata / Windy Canyon

Travel with your family and others as we discover the beautiful North Barrier landscape. We will pass beautiful Whangapoua Beach as we make our way up to Windy Canyon. We will then hike up the short walk to take in panoramic views of the forest and beaches of Great Barrier beneath us. You can then choose to continue on to Hirakimata (Mount Hobson), Great Barrier’s highest point, or make your way down to Whangapoua estuary to see take in the grandeur of the beach-line there.

Onewhero Beach

Hike straight out of Orama through farmland and regenerating bush to a 360 degree lookout with views of Katherine Bay, Port Abercrombie and Little Barrier Island. Continue on to the unspoilt Onewhero Bay with it’s 1000 year old pohutukawa trees and gentle lapping waters. Share a picnic with other families and play beach games.

Boat Trips

Make your way out of Karaka bay as we sail around the majestic outlying islands of Kaikoura, Motu Haku and beyond. Soak in the views of Little Barrier, the gannet colony. We will stop off for snorkeling stops,  swimming and sightseeing on the way.

Bird Sanctuary

Explore the amazing Glenfern Sanctuary and see birdlife that many people go their whole lives without seeing. Take a stroll to sunset rock or walk among undisturbed Kauri forest. Get a magnificent view on the bay as you walk the ridge line.
