Covid-19 Updates

Covid-19 Update - Level 1

With New Zealand now at COVID-19 Alert Level 1 Orama is now open for guests.

Despite re-opening (albeit with limited capacity) we still have the following restrictions in place:

  • to facilitate contact tracing all visitors to the site must sign-in at the Orama reception area or scan the COVID-19 QR code using the government’s COVID Tracer app.

  • we continue to reinforce to our resident community the need for increased basic hygiene practices such as hand washing, the use of hand sanitiser, not touching face, coughing/sneezing into elbow

Dealing with Sickness

Should an individual get sick (even with very mild symptoms) while staying at Orama we will follow a standard process of notification/assessment/diagnosis/treatment which would typically involve the following steps:

  • Immediately notify Orama and Hillary Outdoors management.

  • Immediately isolate the individual at Orama (prior to clinical assessment).

  • Check for COVID-19 symptoms – indications of fever, flu-like symptoms, coughing, difficulty breathing, or any combination of these symptoms.

  • Contact the Local Regional Public Health Unit in Port Fitzroy for clinical assessment or if they are not available call Healthline on 0800 358 5453

  • If COVID-19 symptoms are NOT confirmed then the individual will remain in isolation (at Orama) for at least 24 hours or for however long is deemed necessary by the clinical assessment. If necessary the individual will be sent back home to complete their recovery at the earliest opportunity.

  • If COVID-19 symptoms are confirmed and hospitalisation is not required then arrangements will be made for longer-term isolation (at home) for the individual and those they have been in contact with. If hospitalisation is required then arrangements will be made for immediate transfer to hospital.
