We are pretty spoilt for choice when it comes to activities & adventures on our island. From Marine based water activities to hiking in the bush, we've got you covered.

Right from the front yard, you can expect to swim with dolphins, fish, bush walk, snorkel, dive, explore the sea and bird life on the foreshore, climb to the look-out for panoramic views and sunsets, experience our dark sky.

We offer transport around the island and work in with other transport operators where required. Please talk to reception to discuss your transport requirements.

Island Beach Hop

Whangapoua, Awana, Kaitoke, Medlands ... take your pick. Get dropped off or let a local show you around the island? Minimum 4-person booking. Ask at reception for details.

Surfing

Our island is known for it's breaks and one of the best is just a 20 minute drive from us. Take advantage of our transport service if you know where you want to go.

Fishing

Don't forget to bring your fishing gear when you come! The marine life in our bay and beyond is abundant and sure not to disappoint ...

Diving

Whether its free-diving or scuba there's lots of reefs and fish life to explore. The bay is great for spear fishing and finding crays.

Star Gazing

Take advantage of being in one of the darkest places on the planet. With Great Barrier being an official dark sky sanctuary we get great views of the night sky on a clear night and there are lots of opportunities for getting fantastic photo’s of the milky way and other constellations.

Guided Walks

The island has some great tracks and there are a few within easy reach from us. Go by yourself or try one of our guided walks (minimum group size of five).

Kaitoke Hot Springs

Relaxing in a thermal pool is just the thing after a long walk. A 45 minute drive from Orama and then an easy 45 minute walk on a formed track across the wetlands gets you to the hot springs and a well-deserved soak.

Hillary Outdoors Adventure

If you're wanting even more of an outdoor adventure then talk to Hillary Outdoors about kayaking, coasteering, sailing, high-ropes, rock climbing and other group-based challenges. Please note these adventures needs to be booked well in advance & are generally a minimum of 10 people.
