Recreation Hall

Our large recreation hall is ideal for badminton and half court basketball or just to practice those long shots at goal.

Sports

The expansive flat lawn in front of our main lodge is ideal for a game of soccer or other sporting activities. Bring your favourite sports gear and enjoy.

Surfing

Great Barrier Island boasts some of the most outstanding surf beaches on New Zealand’s east coast. Most well-known is Okiwi beach with its legendary right hand break, Awana beach and Shark Alley at Medlands Beach. These beaches can be accessed by vehicle. The nearest is Okiwi which is about 6km from Orama and Medlands is the furthest, approximately 25km from Orama.

Boat Charter

A 40 foot cruising yacht is available for scenic tours and Port Fitzroy Harbour trips. Gather a group of up to twelve friends and share the cost of boat and skipper hire. Scenic or picnic trips around the harbour are no trouble to arrange to suit your requirements. A day trip to Little Barrier Island is weather dependent and will require a Department of Conservation permit if you are to land. For further information contact Barrier Gold, www.barriergold.co.nz
